For retirees that opt to continue with one of the County-sponsored medical plans, the County has two programs that may help defray the costs of medical premiums.

Retiree Stipend Program

For qualifying retirees, the County may contribute toward the cost of retiree medical premiums in the form of a monthly stipend.

County Supplement (Retiree Health Premium Supplement Program - RHPSP)

For qualifying retirees who are under age 65, the County may contribute toward the cost of retiree medical premiums in the form of a monthly supplement. The program applies to represented employees in bargaining units 1-6, J, M, D and X, who did not opt out of RHPSP and who were hired prior to March 21, 2016 (or hired prior to April 25, 2017 for bargaining unit P only). These employees will make contributions into the RHPSP through payroll deductions (labeled RETIRE HEALTHBEN SUPP).
